Posted: Sat Feb 02, 2008 6:25 pm    Post subject: Balloch Castle and Estate Took a wander up to Balloch today and had a walk round the castle and estate. Sadly at present the castle's shut to the public. Quote: The castle was built as a residence in 1808 by the architect Robert Lugar at the order of John Buchanan of Ardoch, a partner in the Glasgow Ship Bank. This listed building is an early example of the Scottish baronial style popular in the 19th and early 20th centuries. It's a horrid building and should be left to rack and ruin!
