Hope some people on here will be able to help with a project over the next year or so.

There is a thread here already which discusses the plans to develop the site on Buchanan Stree and there may be some photos there which could be reposted here to help build a picture of the development as it progresses.

I have a couple of photos taken prior to the demolition and hopefully there is someone here who has taken some photos during the demilition and it would be great if anyone took photos of the empty site before the steel frame was erected.

The idea is to select a place to take photos and over the next few months take photos from the same location and post them here to show the changes taking place till the development is completed.

I was out today and took photos from the corner of Sainsbury's, to the right of the entrance to the Buchanan Centre and then on the corner of the building after the gap further south on Buchanan Street.

Feel free to select your own sites or use the same ones I have mentioned here. Also we should remember that there could be photos showing West Nile Street and Bath Steet.

If anyne has any other suggested sites please start a different thread.

I know there wasnt much space between the old hotel and the subway entrance before this.In this pic it looks like it will be even more cramped.or will there be more space around the subway to walk past?Shouldnt the entrance to subway been included in the building or nearest building maybe townhouse entrance.it just looks so awkward out of place sitting there.

I've posted some from just before the demolition on the other thread, so I'm not going to clog up this thread!  However, there are some others I've not posted, so here they are!

This one is already posted, but repeated here for comparision with the photo following it!

As many will no doubt recall, the old entrance to the Buchanan Street Subway station was in a tenement which stood on the right hand side (looking up Buchanan Street from the current station entrance). If memory serves, it was the deepest station with the longest staircase down into the bowels of the earth (or so it seemed to a wee kiddie like me!); and was very dark, dank & dingy. All swept away of course during the modernisation. I always thought the middle of a street was a daft place for a station entrance!
