Hi all,
Can anybody help with the name of the old cafe that used to be on the corner of Pollokshaws Road at the end of Calder Street. It was quite big and had a huge special coke bottle machine that you could put the warm bottle in and out popped a lovely cold one at the other end. It is now Lets direct and shut down about fifteen years ago.
thanks Sharon
PS not sure if I have posted this in the right place. _________________ poppy |

No ideas about that one, but I spotted this in Allison Street a while back.
Maybe it might prompt a memory.

i remember it well but I can't remember the name. I used to play in a band and during 1983/1984 we spent a lot of time rehearsing in a flat at 614 Pollokshaws Road which was just across the road from the cafe in question.
I will ask my old bandmates if they can remember. _________________ "This is like deja vu all over again." |

Thanks for that - I know the classic cafe is just round the corner from it, I used to go there a lot as well, for the life of me i just cant remember the name but that would be great if any of the bandmates know it.
Hopefully i will then be able to source some photos _________________ poppy |

That name rings a bell, used to live two blocks down at corner Torrisdale Street ten years ago when I moved to Glasgow, and my boyfriend's name back then was Angus. Is it possible that the sign was still up in 1998 ? It's close to Somerfields, opposite that car dealership, isn't it? _________________

yep thats exactly where it is, lucky521 is my aunt, and we used to go there loads when i was young. I reckon it would prob have at least still had the sign up in 88.
I am now trying to source some photographs of it. Add to the collection of classic cafes in glasgow. _________________ poppy |
