Henry Wood Hall was opened in 1979 after a major programme of restoration and conversion to convert the Trinity Church (1864) into a home for the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO). Some of the original windows from the church were removed prior to 1978 when the building was taken over by the RSNO. Two panels in the 'East End' were retained in the building, two went to the People's Palace, Glasgow, two to a new church in Bishopbriggs and another two to the Ely Stained Glass Museum. The building was cleaned using sand-blasting prior to it being taken over by the orchestra. The area around the hall has also significantly changed, with tenement blocks being demolished and replaced by the RSNO offices and modern flats. The Henry Wood Hall is used as a rehearsal space by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO), RSNO Chorus and RSNO Junior Chorus.
