I heard that last nights storms brought part of the roof in of the Great Eastern Hotel on Duke St. I bet that secret development council are jumping for joy at their excuse to demolish it.
Luxury apartments anyone?

Sadly, it seems as if part of the roof was blown off.

blown off as gale force winds and heavy rain hit parts of Scotland.

Office or flats as long as the integrity of the facade was retained would anyone really bother ?
It's days as a hotel are over and it would hardly attract 5* clientelle regardless of its location.

For Sale: Jakie Heights - 2 bed Luxury flat £300k
Fully restored throughout in a central location
Good local transport links stunning vistas of the Necropolis over the Brewery
Fully fitted Kitchen but cannot get rid of the wang of Pish !!!

Love the pic all the same especially the depth, It almost looks like Bobby Plod there is homing in with the famous words...
"Nothing to see here, move along"

Wee bit more in the Evening Times today...

"A car lies damaged by falling debris after roof tiles were blown off Glasgow’s Great
Eastern Hotel in Duke Street."

"The council's building control team was called to a number of incidents throughout
the city including the Great Eastern Hotel where parts of the roof had blown off,
which caused the closure of Duke Street. The area was cordoned off today until
it could be assessed."

First can't get strict on anything... they arent the police and despite attempts at world domination, have no power. All they can do is alert the relevant authorities
