For some years plans have been developed to transform Oatlands.

The clearance of the area begun a few years ago. Many of the streets were cleared and only a small number of houses remained. Following years of discussion we can now see the area being transformed.

The road layout has been altered. New houses have now been built and the remaining older houses are being demolished. Work is still ongoing and you can see the area has started to change.

One of my friends has just been moved into one of these back and front doors Alex.
Very plush indeed ... to En-suite from a bog that never always worked in the Norfolk Court. Though she said that there is still a problem with Taxis and delivery vehicles hammering up Caledonia street going to Dixon Blazes without realising the street is now closed with scant regard of the toddler playpark that has been installed.
When i was there i counted 15 vehicles of all descriptions included an Articulated lorry demolishing the landscape to save 2 mins...

Could really be doing with a fence at the end before some kiddy gets wiped out in what is now a Cul-De-Sac.

On the Plus note what a difference in housing though from what was there.
heres hoping the investment continues.

I must say that it is good to see the area being regenerated but I am very unhappy at the alteration of the route of the road.

Did you also think it went round in a sort of square just for the sake of doing it too ?

It made no sense to alter the previous layout unless the old road was subsiding into the park.

I saw the plans for the alterations to the road about 8 years ago. I will need to have a look round the office for the original development plan. I am sure we should have a copy. If not I am sure I could ask for a copy from the Planning Department.

The Planning Officer who worked on the plan and the other members of the team won a Flourish Award a couple of months back.

I have to agree with the road critics on this development.

Meantime, Linkwide Housing Group have advised me of this Oatlands Website that may be of interest to some of you:
