People and Places

Images showing people and place capture a time and space in Glasgow. Hopefully the photos in this section of the Urban Glasgow Collection will lead to many interesting projects. We are keen to allow contributors to come up with their own ideas on how best to use these photos but may be a couple of suggestions will get you thinking of similar project.

One feature which is evident is the way in which fashions have changed. Almost a Past/Present but with a subtle difference. Not the same place but similar images of people and their fashion.

Many of the photos show the formation of the pedestrian precincts of Buchanan Street and Sauchiehall Street. These two streets have changed over the years since the introduction of pedestrianisation. Charting these changes may be a lengthy task but could produce worthwhile projects that show how Glasgow has made better use of its two major shopping streets.
