Guy in my work asked me about a building near glasgow green today, but im not sure of what it was/called, he drew a rough map (below), any ideas on what it is, he said theres a statue outside it of a lady reading a book.
Indeed, Monument, it is a person of the male persuasion.
According to Ray McKenzie (Public Sculpture of Glasgow, Liverpool University Press, 2002, p. 195) the sculpture – which is called "The Mathematician" – is "of a boy of about ten years old sitting on a rock [... holding] a slate and piece of chalk, as if about to begin writing". It was sculpted by William Brodie in 1873-74. A small marble version of the sculpture is in the City Art Galleries, Dundee.
Well, that's me got off to a good nit-picking start
Best wishes
