A wee bit of help and advice?

Hi,

First of all I'd like to thank everyone on this board for sharing some wonderful photography and knowledge about Glasgow!  I've thoroughly enjoyed looking through all the photographs on this site.  It has made an ex-pat very homesick.

I am an exiled Glaswegian.  I have lived in South Korea for the last 5 years.  I get back every few years to visit family and friends.  A couple of years ago I made a youtube video of Glasgow, just showing the main areas of the city.  It's had more than 110,000 views!  I've made videos of other places but nothing has attracted the same attention as the Glasgow vid.  I think that shows how unique Glaswegians are.

The video is here:

Anyway, in a couple of weeks I hope to make it back for a visit.  I plan to do a follow up video but this time showing less obvious/touristy things.  I didn't get anything of the East End last time.  I hope to get Glasgow Green, Barras, High Street, Duke Street, the Merchant City, and some legendary pubs this time.

I see you guys take a fair amount of photos in these areas.  I'm a little nervous about being hassled or worse as I go about videoing these areas   .  I won't have a car.  Any advice or tips on how to go about it and stay safe?

I'd also really appreciate any suggestions of places to include on the video.

Thanks,

Tony
Stuball

I wouldnt worry about it too much. The places you have listed are not bad areas. You can do things like keep to the main roads and streets, shoot in broad daylight (when we have some), and pick your times. Sunday mornings are always good since there is less people about and the neds are still in bed

Welcome to Urban Glasgow Salsa

Hope you manage to get to all the places you need to go to and complete your project of recreating the video which is fantastic

Remember to pop into the City Chambers for the free tour.

Yeah I was hoping to do the city chambers tour.

Also, does anyone know if the Wellpark Brewery has a tour?

P.S  Thanks for your kind words on the video!

Thanks for your help Stuball, however there is no tour available.  Pity, I think it would have been fun.

Hi salsa, I have photographed every area in Glasgow, never had any bother but I was careful
OK I had a car and for Parkhead Tollcross and Shettleston I had company
Yes pick your time, early morning and Sundays, just as stuball said
If you need company ask me, I may well be available for a few hours.
Enjoy the board, loads of photos
I am away to look at your video
Bye for now, norrie

Norrie,

Thanks a lot for watching.  I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

I may well take you up on your offer when my plans are more definite, thanks!

I was thinking about also heading North from the city centre to Craighall road and Spiers Wharf.  For some reason I've never been there before.  Am I likely to run into any problems filming around there?

Merry Christmas guys.

Hi salasamuffin, no Speirs Wharf has been gentrified, the warehouses are now housing, you should be OK
Keep in touch
Bye for now, norrie
