Option 1 for the meet-up should be the streets under Central

In all seriousness, what about somewhere down the coast like Cybers said i.e. Largs, Wemyss Bay? Or perhaps a wee jaunt around the countryside i.e. Milngavie?
Beano

Urbex
Countryside
Seaside
City Walk
norrie

Well Im not too fussed on a city walk
I will go along with whatever the majority decide

Assuming we are going to Leadhills , wear sensible shoes  but better if you have walking boots and rainwear
norrie

Any details of arrangements,  pick ups  or who needs a lift?
what's the weatherforecast for Sunday?
Leadhill's is nice when its nice but when its not, its awful
Hawick_1987

I'm just waiting on confirmation from my work - very fickle line manager
norrie

Hi Hawick_1987, ah, WORK, a four letter word, the curse of the working class
Hope you get a pass out
James

Is this for this Sunday? If so I'll amend the thread title.

James H
norrie

Hi james, as far as I am aware, its for Sunday the 18TH November
cybers

Yer this coming sunday James we just need a wee confirmation on the numbers now.
Beano

James..i would suggest the meeting point is Wanlockhead museum and you pick the time. Once posted we will have a better idea of who needs a lift and numbers interested.
norrie

I am up for it
Hawick_1987

Does anyone still have a seat going for the day? I'll quite happily put towards petrol
norrie

What are the arrangements, where are we going, not heard anything
Beano

Norrie..looks like it's off mate weather forecast say's snow on the hills.
fastnet

For a purely selfish reason I'm happy this is off............I might make the next meet.
cybers

Snow on the hills is great .... handy for photos but feck getting stuck in the village of the damned overnight.
James

Funnily enough there was a bothy or two nearby, could've holed up there
for the night to burn wid and drink beer.

James H
cybers

Mate just said more or less same thing to me James... Burning of the wid sounds excellent...
norrie

Hi Guys, thanks for letting me know, perhaps at this time of year a more easily accessed place would be better, let me know of any other suggestion

I have been in the Leadhills while the snow was there, just as well I made it, for my BIL thought I wasnt going to be able to pick him up, to take him back to Rutherglen
The snow was way up to my kness but the road was just patchy snow, we made it back to Rutherglen without mishap
cybers

I will be in the Clyde Valley somewhere I dare say ....   Might finally get round to shooting the church yard at Lamington

There's no way you'd catch me sidling up to Cybers next to a wood fire...he'd probably throw me in for being an Edinbugger!

Maybe next time then?
cybers

I don't mind Edinburgers it's fannies ah canny stand .... Wait it might be the same thing
norrie

Ah well pity about the day, no matter, I ended up in the town, wondered why all the crowds were hanging around Buchanan st, turns out they were waiting for Santa to arrive, right place and time, I have not seen this parade before so got a few shots
If anyone is interested I will post them on Norries Urban adventures
cybers

Leadhills road was closed earlier today for an accident just before Abington so i just toddled doon the A70 .....

I will not give up on the idea we can all have a day oot and photograph the sh!t out of somewhere .... have a laugh and a drink etc ....
norrie

Hi Cybers, no dont give up on the idea but perhaps it would be better in a place more accessible, where we dont need to rely on folk driving
Did you get any shots down the A70?
cybers

Yer loads of them few crashes bits and bobs ... was just more or less getting involved in wee intricate photos and textures.

Anyone up for a wee Xmas drink? Could be in the town or at a quieter venue?

The "traditional UG Christmas Drinks Night" is usually after the new year.

cybers - I agree with you that the lack of 'days out' on UG is embarrassing for
a forum this popular. I think we all, as users of the forum, need to take heed
of this, as it it's not something we can ignore. The more days/nights out we can
arrange, the more users we will attract to UG.

I also think this thread "a wee day out" wasn't posted enough in advance for us
to entice new or hitherto unknown members to attend.

How about, a wee day out in southern Scotland (with an option for those who are
of the persuasion to burn wid for the night in a bothy for the night   ) in the next
few weeks?

It's a place to start, if nothing else?

As long as its over a Saturday night then i am game and all for it if you can pull the strings on the billit.

I have my thinking hat on as far as wee days out are concerned for next year and whilst i can't force anyone to go i will supply a few seats in the tractor for anyone who might be of a mind to join me. I firmly believe we have a decent community spirit in the place on the most part but it seems trying to get people motivated in anything apart from showcasing thier photos is a little harder. Lets do the showcase thing its what makes the place tick, but lets also have relevant threads where we can all post our experience of the day or night collectively to a thread so any new members can look at what we also do and what we are doing as a group and not just what we have done as individuals.

This place is magic as far as information goes I am just of the mind it could be better as far as involvement and interaction are concerned.

Granted the day oot was a bit short notice and trying to get stuff organised etc as far as venue was a bit of a struggle and it has since been mooted to me "Wha wants to go to fackin Leadhills ?" I did was my answer .... but i also understood their point.
Beano

cybers wrote:

Instead of just moaning about Leadhills why did'nt they suggest another venue then, the fact is they sat back and let others try too think of one. I would have said yes if they had proposed another meeting place .
cybers

That was my response Beanz.... Yi try to get people involved and it descends into farce.... minds me fella ... next time yi fancy a night wander for photos on a weekend give us a shout.... see if we can knock heads and come up with a viable plan to get people involved more

Oh and BTW i thought leadhills with someone who lived there and knew stuff would have made for an interesting wee wander

The Flying Scotsman Rally will be at Kaimes Race track at Muirkirk on Sunday 21st April for Speed Test, It's a rare chance to see pre-war supercars doing what they were built to do,being thrashed around a race track.Entry is free, Come give your support.
