Nice one Calamity - where's that ?
calamity

http://www.geolocation.ws/v/W/Fil...raph.org.uk%20-%20545283.jpg/-/en  here pal..took it from the top of a bus..
Marblez

Been up that way and never noticed that. How many old Glasgow pics have we seen taken from the top of a tram .... nowadays its just buses
calamity

Never had a camera back in the caur days Marblez.. hahaha.. and they were only used in the Summer.. ordinary folk didnt think of taking photos in the rain, snow, or of what was going on in the streets..sadly...
Marblez

Unfortunately nowadays is the same although we all tend to have cameras on our mobile phones there is still a lot of stuff which has not been recorded for posterity. In days gone photography was not looked on with the same suspicion as it can be nowadays ... how much are we going to lose because of it ?
calamity

Theres a lot of places Id love to go and take photos but there out the way and not the places you would go on your own...
Marblez

And it will be the people from those very areas who will be looking for a photo of their street twenty or thirty years from now ....
calamity

Exactly.... I take the old factories a lot before there all gone forever, not very pretty I know but our history..I can only find on good photo of Fordneuk st where my granny lived... I can still see her hanging out the windae on my way home from school and wish now I had some decent photos of the place...
Marblez

I suppose the irony is that the gorbals was classed as one of the most deprived areas in Britain and yet there are loads of photos kicking about of there, yet the modern day equivalents will probably be less well documented in years to come with all this technology that's available
calamity

I think when you young you imagnie things will stay the same forever.... With new bulds folk would think of taking photos of their area..  It was only recently I found the Police training college at Oxford st.... I had noticed it passing in the van but never knew what it was ..   http://urbanglasgow.co.uk/archive...raining-college__o_t__t_3364.html
Marblez

It was originally a police station, then the training college. It closed when the new one at Jackton opened and was used by the Big Issue for a while. Last I saw it has a lawyers sign in the window but I've never seen it open !

However I do concede we were off-topic so if anyone knows of any more gable end paintings or stuff which would fit here then let us know so we can get along with our cameras and record it for future generations

That being said if we HADN'T gone off topic then I would not have remembered about this little photo. Taken when the old Police Training College at Oxford St was being used as offices by the Big Issue .....

fastnet

I took pics of them at the Falkirk wheel last week..
cybers

There are actually 3 sets of minis.

Ones in New York, Falkirk Wheel as John rightly said at the entrance to the basin and Andy Scot has the scaled back models of the original conceptual idea.
fastnet

Cheers for that Davie...... From last week.

Im getting a bit confused here... are these shared out to other places or another set of maquettes..   http://kinneil.wordpress.com/2014/04/28/kelpies/
cybers

The ones at Kinneil are from Falkirk wheel. No doubt needing a new home anyway as the full sized ones are now in place.
