Beneath The Campsie & Kilsyth Hills

This was/is a Traveller's site in Lennoxtown. Some story as the council spent 800,000 on it a few years ago and its been a victim of vandalism / ennui etc. Even the cctv and the pole it was on got nicked.

A nice reminder of Kirky's Lion Foundry on the bandstand at Burngreen Park in Kilsyth

Nice pics,Mahdi.

The same thing happened to the travellers site on the outskirts of Paisley years ago.In the end it was demolished and the entrance blocked up.

Whereabouts was that site Doog Doog? The only one I can remember was behind the viaduct on St. James' Street / Underwood Road.

Mahdi, I think the one Doog is referring to was on Hurlet Rd between Glasgow Rd and Grahamston Rd.
Doog Doog

Yep, the one on the Hurlet road. The one you were thinking of Mahdi was the old milk marketing board.

Following a number of fires in the derelict remains of the buildings this site has now been completely flattened - no structures of any kind remain, other than the internal roadway.

Apparently originally intended to be sited on the Milngavie / Bearsden side of East Dunbartonshire, local pressure groups succeeded in having it moved to the outskirts of Lennoxtown.
