Hi Sparky
Seeing ya post there reminded me of the days spent in Blackhill and sunny Barrowfield.
Not that I lived there just that in my day I worked in insurance and these were my areas that I collected in.
My first day in Barrowfield was a eyeopener as I got somewhat lost and ended up asking one of the locals who just so happened to coming out of his dwellings with a TV.
He was very helpful and said that who I was looking for was on the second landing.
I thanked him for his time and carried on with my collection.
It was the following week when in my office in Bath Street that my boss just so happened to ask me if I saw any suspicious when doing my rounds and I said everything went to plan.
I asked him why the ask then he said that a Miss McLuskey ground floor flat was broken into and that her telly was pinched.
The guy that I spoke to that Friday must have been the burglar and that telly that he had was Mrs McLuskeys.
To think I was talking to him in mid pinch and he was cool as a cucumber and never dawned on me that the guy was not the tenant of that ground floor flat.
Blackhill was another area that had its reputation and it never really entered my mind that I could get mugged going around the area.
The people there were very nice and helpful and they did pay well and on time.
30 plus years later I still think of the place and how the polis station in Blackhill got torched.Happy memories.
