Smashing photo, Stuball. You can almost imagine the wolves running down the drive   Did you have a peek inside? It must be a real danger by now.
Can you still access it from the entrance just after the golfy?
Stuball

Of course I had a peek inside... but I think it'll be my last visit there

"Pure Corridor Smut" is so atmospheric.
stucandoit

was there a couple of weeks ago. not a whole lot left inside anymore. Pretty much an all round death trap with hidden holes in the room floors etc.

and the land round about is being used as pheasant breeding grounds. had the misfortune of bumping into the farmer on the way out. what an attitude he had on him. Thinking he was a hard man due to having a shotgun over his shoulder.

Capercaillie

So the ineffective fencing is a recent addition, tried to get to the top floors but the lift never arrived and with my gammy leg I didn't risk the stairs!

Was asked to leave by this resident:

Capercaillie

Being in the area dropped in on this relic from the past.  Intrigued by the modern annex built by East Ayrshire mental health services.

It's Dunlop House, sold by the Dunlop family to the council in 1933 and closed by them in 2000.

Seems like its deterioration has been accelerating since 2005 according to web sites like: http://www.clandunlop.com/house.htm

El-Cid

Worked at Uplawmoor Hospital and Caldwell House in mid 60s as an Apprenticc Electrician, we did some contract work there, used to travel up from Glasgow, what a journey in these days.
