Chatelherault Country Park and Estate

Chatelherault Country Park is a country park near Hamilton

Its name is came from the French town of Châtellerault, the title Duc de Châtellerault being held by the Duke of Hamilton.

To get to it the nearest station is Chatelherault on the Motherwell line,

Please do not apologise for the "Boring Cieling" Picture Calamity.
I find the furniture in these places boring and am usually more taken in by the ornate plaster work.
LowLight

thanky cybers I like it too. love old stone, plasterwork more than the furniture as its usually taken in from other places.

All the front of the lodge , the road leading up to it was dug out for sandbags for the war effort I had a drawing of how it looked but cant find it.. looked beautiful, the house belonging to the Duke was impressive and much bigger than the lodge.

Nice shot ... gardener must have been pissed that day as the stripes are pretty staggered !!!
Delmont St Xavier

Aye but the whole place is on a gradient....

If you stand inside, it is like being on the deck of a ship as subsidence has badly affected the building, apparently caused by miniing in the nearby area.
Clansman66

The floors are all over the place, the land was unstable due to mineworkings but the whole place has been underpinned and made safe, plays havoc with your sense of balance!!!!

I thought I had posted these but obviously not......
