ChristmasHow about entering into the spirit of the Festive Season by posting up any Christmas related photos.
Here is one to get started.
I was going to try and get an aerial shot of the skating from the City Chambers today but didn't get the time. Maybe get one next week if the weather is good.

Maybe I'll try get one from the Millennium hotel....
Most of my xmas pics are anti-xmas... but here is my one of the tree
By the way Alex, alot of flickr users are kicking up a stink about the rocksteady stewards and their attitude to anyone with a 'professional' camera claiming it is their policy... does this reflect the wishes of their client, GCC?

Hi Stu
This has been discussed in another place but as you have asked me directly I will check this out. I don't think it does refelct the policy of the Council although I may be wrong. I remember there being a bit of a problem taking photos at school events. Child protection issues my influence what position the Council takes on this matter. But if you don't ask you don't get to know. I will contact the Events Co-ordinator and others to find out what the position is and let you know.

cheers Alex :)
I have to say I was never stopped or questioned by any of them, but some have because they have SLR cameras. Some debate over stuff like is it public or private.
My own view on it is the stewards.... none of them are displaying an SIA licence, which they must do by law

I will also ask about them displaying ID Stu. As you say they must do this by law.
Here are a couple of old ones from last year.

Don't talk to me about trashed
I had the big Xmas party at my place lastnight I think we took it too far when I got my friend Petr to dress as the Santa Claus and arrive down the Chimney!
Great Idea at the time but he got his sack stuck halfway down and we had to wreck the place to get him out.
I'll need to get the vacuum cleaner out and have a tidy up before my folks arrive for a visit nextweek.
I also need a new Xmas tree as it got smashed up when somebody had a big laughs being a Lumberjack then put it out the window...those crazy guy's.
What a night
PS: Hey Guy's did anyone lose a black shoe lastnight? give call me I'm keeping it good for yous.

Forgot to post this the day after i read your one about the RS heavy mob.
I got told this too but without even breaking stride i informed him i was from the DSS and asked him if he had something to hide ... He told me to carry on then made off. Though it spoiled the atmosphere somewhat as loads of the hired help suddenly just went for tea.

Just one of those wee mental post it notes i keep locked away since the time the kindly police relieved me of my camera equipment in Kinnear Road for evaluation purposes.

Had to check your PB account alex for the time taken as i thought you may have captured the elusive cybers there....or at least my van.
Had to make my way to a customer before coming back round the square to enter your mail room.
erm and it is my van.

Wow! Would that make my photo the capture of the year
The wonders of photography.
The photo was taken at about 3.00-3.30pm.
I got a message regarding the taking of photos in the Square. Security should only be pointing out that in order to take photos of children using the skating you require the permission of the parents. As the Square is a public space it is not possible to stop people taking photos.
There may be further updates on this position and I will post any further details when if I get any.
More from yesterday.

Fantastic pictures Alex.
That would make a great vantage point for some Christmas night shots of the square.
Maybe you could work late one night and treat us ..

Thanks DS
After hours last year I managed to get a couple of photos of the Square at Christmas.
Unfortunately I forgot to get the code to the best office overlooking the Square last week when I was in a bit late.
It is the place I always go when anything is happening in the Square.
Still on the Christmas theme.
Isn't the snow effect on the Urban Glasgow picture brilliant. At least some acknowledgement here that it is Christmas. Well done James/Scallopboy

As we get closer to Christmas Day I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR.
Don't know if I will get the chance to do this later as I may be busy.
Thank you to everyone for the friendship they have shown on this site. It has been a pleasure sharing our common interest in all things Glasgow. Let's hope 2008 will be a good year with lots of visits, walks and social events.

Cheers. I've uploaded a wee Flash file which, I think, looks a lot better than
the old .gif file.
Move your mouse over it to change the direction of the snow...
