Cotton Mills in Glasgow

IM watching "The Mill" a new TV series that shows what life was like for the young people who worked in these places... so thought Id have a wee read about the mills round this area..

Hi Calamity I am watching that too
The good old days, NOT
Check out Scotlands Places and see the mills in Anderston before they were demolished, vandals

thanks Norrie will do... aye the good old days .. good TV though..

My mother, who was born in 1912, worked in a cotton mill in Bridgeton as a  young woman - sometime in the late 1920s/ early 1930s.  I don't remember her ever saying much about it, other than that she had worked there, but I got the impression that it was somewhere round about the James Street area.

TT theres an old mill building still there, now its flats near where the Kings Picture house was..

Thanks for that info, Calamity. Forum Index -> Glasgow From The Past
