Does anyone have any clues what this is?

Hello
This is a large, seven storey building just to the north of the Paisley Canal, it is between Craighall road and Possil road, on the banks of the canal. I have looked for info on it but there is next to nothing, it *might* have been a bakery some decades back, or another food production place but now it is completely sealed upto the 3rd floor and is abandoned, there is a caretakers house just inside the grounds which is in a severe state of disrepair.

Any clues what this building is or was and anything about it?

Anyone been inside it or know any info as to who owns it or if there is any sort of plan for its future?

cheers

Mushroom Factory

and it's the Glasgow branch of the Forth & Clyde canal.

I've been in it and it's just not worth the bother. There is absolutely  nothing of internet inside and one hell of a strong pigeon poo smell

How did you get in?

Did you climb the firewall or ram the logic gate?

Rumoured to also contain the usual hydroponics set up lately with  a strong wiff of mixed herbs in the air now too.

mushroom factory?

I wasn't expecting that. Cheers for the info anywho.

And yeah I'd forgotten the name of the canal and it wasn't obvious on Goggle maps so I guessed :-p

Originally built as a bonded warehouse I believe, only became a mushroom factory later...

Did it stink real bad when you were there Ben? I was gagging on the stairs going up towards the roof

Mmmm, not a big fan of that 'mushroomy' smell!

It wasn't mushrooms, it was foot-thick pigeonshit

Yes, I was holding my breath for quite a bit of it...

A quick update, but according to October 2011 images and information from Derelict Glasgow website the site is now being redeveloped as flats and apartments.

A new one but what the hell is it and for what purpose is this on the corner of Montrose Street and Richmond Street.
