Never been to Dunmore but it is now added to my todo list....

Have been to the Pineapple though it was a great place for a photo and i would have loved to have seen the interior of the fruit.

Well I didn't know the pineapple was part of the estate, and yeah, dissappointed I couldn't get in to the pineapple, it looks like it's converted into some flats or something now.  Dunmore Hosue was very tranquil, lovely setting.

The pineapple is managed by The national trust for scotland on behalf of dunmore estates.
The pineapple is for let as holiday accomodation throughout the year...
Looks great in the winter as i imagine a big coal fire judging by the well camoflaged chimneys.

Appreciated Wee Minx, and Cybers I agree and it's on my to-visit list as well.

Near Dunmore Park house amongst the tree's is the remains of Elphinstone Tower. The basement of which was converted into a crypt for the family members. Due to vandalism over the years, the bodies were disinterred, leaving the crypt open to vandals that have pulled out the coffins and partially destroyed them.

Stuballs, very interesting set and info     hard to believe the "buggers" pulled the coffins out

Just up from Elphinstone tower and the crypt is a small family graveyard containing previous Earls of Dunmore

I was at the tower a few years ago and that door was firmly locked up. Did you venture up to Dunmore Park House, Stuball?

I was going to post some more of my tour of Dunmore Park house but I thought it would be better to leave it on the high note of the cellar shots. There are lots more pictures to view and you can see them HERE
