Embedding YouTube & Vimeo Videos

First, go into your own profile and make sure the 'Always allow HTML' option
is selected:

Then, when posting a reply, make sure there is no tick in the 'Disable HTML
in this post' box:

Finally, the YouTube embed code looks like this:

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value=""></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

Remove everything except the code in the 'embed' tags, like this:
<embed src="" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="500" height="375">

Et voilą.

Embedding Vimeo Videos

Vimeo videos can be embedded but they are are bit different to YT videos.
For a start, they tend to use the <iFrame> tag which doesn't work on this forum.

Instead, use the code below to embed a Vimeo video.
<embed src="" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" width="640" height="360">

The only thing you'll need to change is the height & width numbers and, most
importantly, the clip_id number, 12345678 on the code above

Be sure not to delete the & sign after the clip_id number. Every Vimeo video
has it's own unique clip_id number.

Et voilą.

I can't find the old code for posting videos from YouTube. May be that I am thick but it doesn't appear to be available to me would that be right?

A lot of the newer Videos are missing the old code so you need to basically write your own.
At the top of the page Alex In the address bar is the video address it looks like this...

You need the end part the last 11 characters ul35z_ePKjM

Then just replace the xxxxxxx's in this with the 11 chars

<embed src="//" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed>

Thank you very much Cybers

I will be able to post a video I did now.

Thanks cybers. Was able to sort out my Inverkip demo video from last week :)

Happy to help guys ... I had to figure this out too for embedding a wee video in another site i use.

James, would it be possible for you to create a [youtube] tag that we would just wrap the url in and it would create the embed code. There's probably some already written on the phpBB forum.

I've added a 'Video' tag to use to embed YouTube videos.

How to use:

Doesnt seem to work for Vimeo videos.
