Doorstop

Falkirk Wheel.

Doorstop 1.0 and a big, iron horse .. some would say the difference is negligible.

I like the hut one.

Cheers FN.

It's a Santa's Grotto tucked away at the turning bend from the Union canal into the loading tunnel for the wheel gondola aquaduct.

God knows what it's doing there?

Brilliant, amazing, fantastic, not much more to say Doorstop.
Will have to visit this place next leave, have always been fascinated by the engineering in this.

Thanks muchly CE, it's a fascinating bit of heavy plant and no mistake .. not much to see on the engineering front (I'm thinking that would have arranged on the fly by someone in the know) but what is on view is highly absorbing.

The sight of that double gondola annulus being turned around by those tiny hydraulic pumps is completely fascinating, the whole thing doing a complete revolution using only the electrical equivalent of boiling eight standard kettles.

Nice shots mate.

Here's some more for the archive.

The two boats in the foreground of the middle photograph are new to the lowland canals, wonder when they'll be cruising past me?
