Faslane Peace Camp

As it's 30th Anniversary approaches I thought it would be prudent to make a wee return visit to the camp and see how things are going with the guys on site. I was made welcome as always with an offer of tea and the first thing I noticed was how much more tidy everything was now and laid out in such a manner as it is all to hand with a good set of rules for recycling etc. Seems they have a good handle now on dealing with the camps care and for that they are applauded.

No images were taken inside the main buildings to maintain the integrity and security of the camp for the dwellers but if your needs and wants must, Drop by give the guys a bit of moral support and enjoy the conversation for what it is. As the sign on the gate states .... Visitors are always welcome.

Faslane Peace Camp, now almost 32 year old I decided to take cybers advice and drop in after the recent stormy weather. I found the people there very friendly and welcoming.

The younger guys who live there now are maybe not as passionate and as committed as the women of yesteryear but they are making the effort and the camp is being preserved. As far as I last heard the council are trying to have it demolished again as it is under consideration as a world heritage site.

Bound to amuse some politician somewhere as I know it amuses me

Glad you took the time to drop in Ben   Very nice people who have no issue with strangers who arrive with a genuine interest. Nice set

David, had a nice wee chat with a young woman who offered me a cuppa, her wee lassie even took ma pic with her camera

There are worse ways to spend an afternoon Ben and are certainly more welcoming than their neighbours.

I was in not to long back and got talking to a girl who showed me a photo of her mother laying in the road in the 80's so its starting to be a generational thing. It would be interesting to see how many kids were born to one or both parents who lived in the camp and perhaps spent their first younger years there.

I had no idea the camp was still on the go
Well done beano in getting those shots
