Gairbraid Street

Hi
I'm looking for any maps or info on the original location of Gairbraid Street.
I see there's Gairbraid Avenue, Court and Place in Maryhill now.
I think the original Gairbraid Street is now part of Maryhill Road, probably between Ruchill Street and Gairbraid Avenue, but I haven't found any "proof" of this yet.
At OldGlasgowPubs there's mention of McKenzie's Vaults changing from 339-41 Gairbraid Street to 991-99 Maryhill Road, at Oran Street. I don't know if that means a physical move to a new location, or just renaming/renumbering...

Thanks
Jim

The part of Maryhill Road where it meets Queen Margaret Drive was originally Gairbraid Street, presumably becoming New City Road at Queen's Cross.

Seems to run from the canal bridge down to Garscube Road at Queen's Cross.

If you've never seen this, you're in for a treat! Make sure you use the slider on the bottom left!

Great site, I discovered it right after I posted, down loaded the 1896 and 1913 maps, and then found out Godfrey Maps have reprints for only 5 UK pounds so that came in the post yesterday!

Thanks for the info.

Re: Gairbraid Street

Additional info I found:
In 1858 a map survey (published 1865, Lanarkshire sheet IV), shows the whole of Wynford Street and Gairbraid Street was then called Garscube Road.
Where Murrayhill now branches right (down the old New City Road), it carried on left on what is now called Garscube until Cowcaddens.
This would explain why my ancestros are recorded at Garscube and then later Garbraid, and then later still Murrayhill - it's possible they didn't move, the road name just changed!
