Glasgow Buildings - Hope StreetHope Street
One of the five richest streets in Glasgow forming, together with Buchanan, Gordon, St Vincent and West George a notably concentrated block of architectural merit.
Atlantic Chambers, 43-47 Hope Street, 1899, J J Burnet
A large steel-framed office block, one of Burnet’s finest designs, and the earlist to reflect American elevator buildings of the same vintage. Both elevations are distinctive: Hope Street is focused on a central chimney shaft, shooting up between oriel bays to bisect the deeply shadowed Doric eaves gallery.

67 Hope Street, 1899, Robert Thomson & Andrew Wilson
Stylishly detailed offices and printing works for the Glasgow Evening News. Bay windows in deeply shadowed arched recesses are united by a single curvaceous balcony. Excellent sculpture.

106-108 Hope Street, 1894, Salmon & Gillespie
Tall, refined Flemish Renaissance gable with elongated Corinthian columns and superb sculpture (carved by W Ferris but clearly from models by a first-rate sculptor): probably designed by Gillespie.
