Glasgow in Games.........So basically i Re-installed MS Flight Simulator X applied the DX10 patch and was enjoying a wee flight when i decided to see how Glasgow is represented....
Whilst its not perfect as i cannot be bothered to go looking for a commercial scenery pack i was quite startled by the result.
Most of the major landmarks are there and it got me wondering if there are any other games the city is represented in ...
I think i may have Train Sim somewhere lol but it aint my thing ... though i might load it in the name of research !

I think some Glasgow buildings are in the Sim City games. One of its creators was a student at Strathclyde and the Livingstone Tower was included in the game.

It'll be interesting to see if he puts the route on the Auran download staion.
There are a few buildings from Glasgow, Central Station being 1 of them but only platform layout and 2 walls gives it away.

I'm the man doing the Glasgow Tramway on Auran Trainz Rail Simulator. In much the scenery has to be a perception based on what is available on the Trainz Download Station but every single line that ever existed included a couple removed back in 1934 are there. In fact I have walked every single mile over the last 2 years off and on, Milngavie, Dunctocher, Airdrie, Udingston, Thornliebank/Speirsbridge to Barrhead and back up to Pasiley. Johnstone, Kilbarchan, etc, etc. Scenery apart the lines are all where they were and I am a bit behind due to some recurring permanent health matters but it will go up on Auran Trainz in the near future and two ex-Glaswegians in New Zealand and Australia are anxious to get their hands on it. It has been a massive project for my first attempt building anything and is unique in a way.
Although been a hard slog and at time near to giving up due to the large size I persevered so there would be a working tribute to the biggest system outwith London. The Glasgow standard, Kilmarnock bogies, single-decker, Coronation are all for running on it (they were built by someone else). A Cunarder is in the pipeline. If you have Trainz you can drive trams from the cab, outsiee ot watch them. They can also be programmed to run from one terminus to another and will change all the points automatically going there. This has been a labour of love because a wee boy who fell in love with the trams as a "wean" has never forgot them!
