Glasgow in the 70's in print?

Steapadair, amazing photographs. They really help to make sense of present day Glasgow. Any chance of these appearing in a volume at some point?
streapadair

Thanks, Juliea.

I wasn't going to mention it until there was something definite to mention, but yes, there is work in progress. I'll keep UG informed of any developments.

Hi Strepadair, work is at the foreward stage, PWM437 is beavering away , I expecting him to show me the finished article soon its been a while but its worth the wait
skintobalinto

Strepadair, your photos are an absolute inspiration. I have spent hours going through them, several times over. I wonder if, when taking them that you would look back 20-30 years later and see how much Glasgow has changed. I personally thank you for every one of them.

MKaan

Does anybody have have any information, pictures of the printing/publishing factory that was situated on the corner of Buccleugh Street and Garnet Street, Garnethill?

Grateful Thanks

Max.
Stuball

Can't find any reference to a printers or publishers... only a school and 'vet coll' on the corners.
MKaan

Hello Stubs,
Yes you are correct, on the corner of Buccleuch street and Garnethill street stood the vet college and still stands the school (now converted into flats)

Further down at the corner of Buccleuch Street and Garnet Street was the printer factory, I think it was called Robertsons.

If anyone has info or pics it would be great.

Have a lovely blessed day.

Max.
Stuball

Couldn't find Garnet street on the ward maps, only Garnet lane
norrie

Hi Stuball, Garnet st is the ls the last st on the right, as you walk towards Charing Cross, the former Bersford hotel is in the corner of Garnet st, Sauchiehall st
streapadair

Just a wee sneak preview. It's still at the proof stage, but will be in the shops by Christmas.
Targer

It looks like a very interesting book and the dust cover shows the old and the new and if I am honest I prefer the old.
kev

Strep....Your photographs that you posted here were fascinating educational and nostalgic and I wish you well with the book..We are as you'll know another demolition period in the city and though not as traumatic as when you were out recording your archive its still worth documenting as when we're aw deeid people will marvel at pics of the high rise flats. I have taken loads and looking for a wee bit of inspiration have started taking some detailed pics for future urbaners to look at at.
Couple here

norrie

Hi Strepadair, look forward to reading the book, Peter has kept me up to date
