Glasgow Shops

With the country in the midst of a double dip recession there have been a few shops closed in recent months.

I though it would be good to have a thread to capture photos of shops in Glasgow. Many premises have been trading for years - long may they continue

It's not a new shop to Glasgow not even sure its a new location as I think it has been there now for several years.

Quote:
Patisserie Valerie was first opened in Frith Street in London's Soho in 1926 by Belgian born Madam Valerie. She came to London on a mission to introduce fine Continental Patisserie to the English. It was an instant success.

During the Second World War the Frith Street premises were bombed by the Luftwaffe and Madam Valerie subsequently set up shop around the corner in Old Compton Street where her legacy continues to this day in our Soho branch.

The unique café-atmosphere includes the decor left over from the 1950's epitomised by the now famous Toulouse-Lautrec style cartoons by Terron.

In our havens of self-indulgence, you will discover only the best quality cakes and patisserie, continental breakfasts, lunches, the finest teas and coffees and an atmosphere that is unique to each location. We've worked hard to achieve an international reputation and this has been built on the quality of our products which we hand make ourselves using artisan craft bakery skills and only ever using fresh ingredients and traditional baking methods resulting in award-winning croissants and viennoiserie

I bought a few wee things in there that struck me as interesting at the time.
Owner liked a good barter and it was a good bit of sport on a boring afternoon.

Your photo does it great justice Bill.

Trongate Shop Fronts

Thank you for posting these Pictures, especially the one of the Cash Generator Store front. I worked in that Store  in the late 60's when it was Craig Jewellers, it really doesn't look too different now, brought back some great memories
