Glasgows disappearing wee commercial premises

I took myself for a wander from C'lang to Battlefield yesterday and on the way got to thinking about all the wee standalone commercial premises that are dotted about.

These are disappearing rapidly, turned into undes-res's by developers ( okay its stopped at the moment but it will soon get going again )

Obviously when these wee businesses fail - as they sadly do - a new block of flats is better than a derelict building - but its still a shame.

They can be quite "picturesque" - it would be good to capture them before they go.

Wish for example I had photos of the two garages ( one ivy covered ) at either end of Dukes Road - both now dodgy flatted developments.

photos not the best but hopefully they make my point . . .

Doorstop

I noticed the other week that the wee cabin on the canal bank at the end of Yokermill Road has shut down..

It's a shame actually as that wee shop was handy after a walk along the canal bank for a wee bit of sustenance and a paper.
calamity

Id get to London Road , at Springfield road smart as all those old shops will be gone soon..

thanks for the pointer Calamity

It's a real shame, they would have been handy for the athletes at the commonwealth games getting their fags and papers . . .

aye thats true... this is the photo taken from top of bus, if you jump on a 43 at the Cross you can get a good view of the Velodrome too.

I mind getting dragged down there for a few balls of itchy wool for a new jumper .... A haircut where i probably smaked 40 woodbine passively and the comic swap shop
calamity
