Glasgows Railways Pictures

Hi all. I've reinstated the Partick Interchange Project photography gallery to my site. The gallery contains 152 images which date back to December 2006 and shows the station before and after (nearly complete) refurbishment. I am hoping to start a commentary box tonight and finish it off tomorrow as well as captions fully complete though hope to type these all by the end of the week when I have more time.

Though for me it's the 1st that takes the title.
samscafeamericain

Norrie, they come off at Finnieston West junction.
norrie

Hi doogdoog, does that happen in the tunnel?
Bye for now. norrie
jonno22

Hi Norrie. It happens at Finnieston West Junction just east from Partick station. The Argyle Line goes to the left and the North Clyde Line goes to the right;)

Hi johnno22, I will watch out for the junction next time I am on the train

Jono it's forum etiquette to post images in threads like everybody else and not being a lazy arse and plugging your site with an URL.

Pics please or you post's ain't happening

jonno22.

Please do not post replies with random pictures in the 'Glasgow Development
& Demolition' section of the forum. That section is for news on the latest developments
happening in Glasgow - it's not for random pictures which tell us nothing.

If you want to create a record of the changes to this station, keep the pics in this thread.

Railway station at Dalmarnock in £8m overhaul

GLASGOW has agreed an £8million overhaul of Dalmarnock Station as part of moves to create a world-class transport system ahead of the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Was posted here DH.

I took these pics of DULLmarnock station last year

jonno22

Ok doke James, cheers;). Nice work Cybers. I like the second shot best. The glimpses of daylight appearing through the concrete structures is a goodie:). I'll be popping back from time to time like I say in order to have an archive of photographs shwing the station from how it is now through to works in progress and straight through until completion of the refurbishment project.

jonno22

Cheers guys. I thought you might like that wee selection displayed on the thread:). The Greenfaulds pic was taken in February. I have sent this pic to some friends of mine who have demanded they have it for there desktop. If any of you want the pic for the same thing (free of charge of course) then give me your e - mail address and you will have your desktop background for this Christmas:P.

I loved the 318's. My first experience of air-bag suspension. Them being phased out makes me feel old!

Wouldn't mind some of those new Class-180's, though. A nice ride and bloody handsome stock if you ask me.

Thanks Jonno, the camera was a Mamiya DSX 1000 SLR with a f1.4 standard lens,a replacement for a Cosina that was lost on a trip.
It was a bloody good camera but it got trashed in a bike accident - the lens survived though.

I must have read Jonno's blurb wrong.

jonno22

Sorry to hear about the camera Doug Doug, good you got that pic out of it though:). The old 318s have completely phased out which was what I meant incase there has been any confusion;)

Doog Doog

Refurbished,is the word you're looking for.
jonno22

correct Doug Doug, though I could not put end of the 'refurbished' 318s in my title because thatwould then be a false and confusing statement and would not make any sense.

Wow not like you to get a bit heated James....

Right not wanting to add to anyones anxiety but this is confusing...
Are they done finito scrapped, Or away getting new tartan cos i am confused...
Although i dont like the choo choo's as a customer or as a pastime i do marvel at the engineering involved.
But could not tell the difference from one to another...
Stuball

They just refitted them with a new cab etc... they are still on the tracks

Fjord

Cheers guy's

PS: would it be worth my while heading over for your snow action on the Cairngorm/ Glencoe/ Glenshee resorts as there's been a bit of  a snow drought over here this year. Apparently Glencoe had the heaviest ski resort snowfall in the world on Thursday weighing in at 80cm's on top of what was already there!
norrie

Hi Fjord, get here fast, check the snow reports.

Hi Stuball, thanks for letting us know but I will miss both days
Bye for now, norrie
Stuball

There is also one on Sunday morning departing from Springburn station... 0910 I believe

For those budding photographers, this can be a good opportunity to practice motion shots. But be advised that central station is still undergoing refurbishment so choosing a location along the line in advance is a good idea
Stuball

Lets not talk about what happening on platform 11.... bloody Ayr train

Doog Doog

Hi Stuball, nice shot, sorry I wasnt there, norrie

Yep,from memory only 2 power cars had these left alone but only the one seen here Sc51999 was actually operational, ten years after being made redundant.
In fact,it would appear some one has cleaned it a bit as I have another pic taken some years previous bearing a different headcode (0C00).

Some Aussie Trains.

The 'XPT' that travels from Sydney to Melbourne or Sydney to Brisbane.

The 'Sunlander' that travels from Brisbane to Cairns.

The 'Tilt' Train that also travels from Brisbane to Cairns.

The Gulflander that travels from Normanton to Croydon in Far North Queensland's Gulf Country. †Takes five and a half hours for a 135 kilometre trip but good value.

The 'Savannahlander' that travels from Forsayth in the eastern end of the Gulf Country over the Atherton Tablelands back into Cairns.

A great 14 day trip on five different styles of trains, taking in much of Far North Queensland !

Whoops, not Glasgow trains but enjoy anyway !
