Glesga lavvies

Having recently retired I now find myself increasingly drawn to the brain wasting delights of social networking and over indulging in alcohol.. As an element of this, and after having what little grey matter I had destroyed by early morning rolls on sausage and Jeremy Kyle, I am now struggling to fill my empty day. While out for a sherbet a week or so, and when emptying my bladder I was taken by the wide range of pub urinals available to the casual innebriate. During one alcohol fuelled moment I gave a little though to how these wonderful resources have met the needs of Glesga's blethering class, sexually repressed and bursting for a pish male public. To this end I am making it my life's ambition to digitally record as many as I can before I pass on or recieve a right doing for photographing in male toilets. Photies to follow...maybe?

Ben

Any toilet and camera is likely to be a suicide mission, or a visit to the polis station

Don't know if it's still there, but in 2000 we were in Greenock and ate lunch in a hotel or pub on the waterfront near the Customs House.

The gents was magnificent!  Mahogany everywhere (or nearly everywhere).

Worth a look if you are in that neck of the woods. I can't remember the name of the establishment, but you'll know you're in the right place if you go into the restaurant and there is a huge painting of the Firth of Clyde on the wall.

Further to my earlier post in which I outlined my own death wish I was out the other day passing water and my time in Ye Olde Pertick when I came across a wonderful urinal which not only satisfied the need to have a right good pish, but left you reading a short history of land clearances in Scotland. The urinal is a wonderful example of posh pishing for the Pertick garden party and those of us with an interest in Scottish history. If you are in that neck of the woods save your pennies (cause its not cheap) and spend a penny. I have some photies of the urinal but have been unable to post them.........when it comes to matters electronic I confess to being an adherant of the Black Lamp philosophy.

A better example would have been when the upstairs bar in Curlers went through its 'Jock Tamson's' phase.

It was a regular occurrence for ladies to mistakenly enter the gent's toilets as the sign on the door said 'Laddies'

I take on board the critique of Irish themed pubs where the only thing Irish is the name. However without wanting to enter into a big debate and recognising that business will use any method to make profit, I think the owner/s of the pub mentioned have made a reasonable attempt to highlight through the stained glass and urinals some aspects of local trades and what some of our nationalist friends would argue was a personal and social tragedy leading to the deaths of thousands and laying waste the highlands.

i know what youre saying giffer but when i want to go too the loo in a pub i dont wish to be confused by the word fir on the door as in the lismore.i did go into the wrong loo in an indian restaurant in partick once ,much to the waiters enjoyment.it said rani on the door and when i came out the opposing door had a sign which read raja.

Indian rhyming slang

Rani = Fanny
Raja = Tadger

to be honest i would have just pished masel with indecision.
sputnik

your probably right with your slang,indeed i was a right raja.

Rani's and Taga's...Fir's and  Fannies...life used to be so simple...you simply went to the cludgie for a single fish or a Barry White....now you neeed a degree in West End speak to carry out the most basic of human functions.......
