I Have a 'Long Shot' Question?

In the mid-1970's I owned an Austin 1800 S (Land Crab) that I loved dearly, however the fire brigade went out on strike and after nearly 10 weeks of no pay it decided to break down. I couldn't afford to repair it and had to let it go by exchanging it for a Mini Clubman Estate (the garage got the better part of the deal I can tell you!) as my wife & I lived outside Glasgow and I needed to get her to her work and home again every day.

On checking the RAC vehicle search data base for registration numbers (YGG 111 J) the car apparently still exists, but understandably it doesn't list the current owner or location - so my question is ........ does anybody here have a friend or even yourself that owns it?

Many thanks guys - you could make an old fireman's day if you can help locate it.

Phone the DVLA and tell them you need the owners details to send them a civil penalty notice

Hi Fireman, perhaps the reg is on another car
The reg for my car is older than the car.
Fireman

Hi Norrie,

Thanks for your thought, however I checked with two web sites where you can identify what car uses such-and-such registration number and YGG 111 J is still associated with the Austin - http://www.cartell.ie/

So somewhere in the UK, hopefully the Glasgow area it exists, maybe laid up in a garage, but its out there - somewhere!
norrie

Hi Fireman, crikey thats a long time for it to still be on the go, I have not seen any models like that in donkeys years, hope you can trace it
cybers

According to that site HAD 832N is still on the go too and still associated with my Dolly Sprint Auto which I know is long dead and cut up for parts the plate was last used on a Escort Cosworth which was shipped to Baltics years ago.

I checked out that link, looks like it only deals with British Leyland reg's
I thought it might tell me whre my reg was first used
Fireman

Norrie - try this site -
RAC Data Checks
Don't worry about the 'paying' 15.50 to get details, the first step of finding out if the registatrion number still exists and what it may be on now is free.
norrie

Hi Fireman  when I put in the reg, it came up with my car
How do I find out what car it was on before mine?
Fireman

Hi Norrie,

To be honest I'm not entirely sure - if you're now the owner of the registration number you're asking about I reckon a telephone call to the DVLA and see how receptive they are to releasing the information.

It used to be, but I haven't used it in a donkey's age, if you were the owner of the car you could apply for a search of previous owners, however the DVLA charged for this service, but it wasn't too expensive. But as I say that was a long, long time ago and the DVLA has gone through numerous revisions to what they will do or won't do - but its got to worth a 'phone call to find out.

(If you do 'phone have a mug of tea and a packet of biscuits beside you as it often takes a long time to speak with a real person!    )

Hi Fireman, its Ok I know who owned the car I have now, but I have put my private reg I bought a few cars back on it, all I really wanted to know was what car was the first one to use the reg I bought but its not that important, thanks for trying to help

Anyone have any idea of the going rate for design of a prism advert for a trailer .. like this ..

http://www.totalsigns.eu/sitebuil...nd/AdvertTrailer.jpg.w560h426.jpg
AlanM

Design and printing is a few hundred quid, then you've got the hire of the trailer and whether your having it driven round town or parked somewhere.
Doorstop

The daughter has to quote to do the design for a dentists trailer .. so I was looking for a ball park figure for the design only.

I asked Sharon over on HG (her being in the design business) and she says roughly the same as you. 8 hours at 25 an hour.

I have a long shot question.

What is the nearest train station to the Kilpatrick Hills? I'm totally on foot once I leave the station. No car. Thanks!

Perhaps Kilpatrick, Dumbarton or Alexandria would make the easiest accessible routes, are you going to be wandering around whispering to yourself again ?
bAzTNM

A bit uncalled for that isn't it?

I'll do what I bloody want.

You asked for help i provided it, though it would seem I got a raw nerve there aswell. Try not to alarm anyone else ... including yourself.

Oh and thanks for watching folks...

Your a bassa so yi are ...
First off the Statue is the depiction of the jeebus fella curing the blind boy if I mind right there is another child "his brother" on jeebus's right.

Secondly I am sure i have photo's of this very statue but can i find them

Third I don't think its Glasgow it may well be one of the coastal towns on the west but where for the life of me my brain is not saying.
Alex Glass

If you know the name of the statue maybe a check on the Historic Scotland website under Listed Buildings will help with the location. Almost all of the staues in Glasgow are listed.
