Ideas for more stuff to clog up the interweb

Well I have 100 ideas a day, but realistically I know only 98 of them will be outstanding.   How about some photos of burger vans and ice cream vans? They are more ephemeral than shops but they are an important part of the city feeding us burgers by day and ginger by night.

My sis owns a burger van, although it's not in Glasgow
scallopboy

How's her black pudding, if you'll pardon me for inquiring I like a nice roll and black with a squirt of brown to start the day.
glasgowken

To be honest she's just starting up, so she's still to fire up the fryer in anger.
ex-tobester

Where is she GK and well arrange a wander, and do a UG good food guide on her van.

I like my black with a tattie scone and a squirt of brown.
glasgowken

Out Falkirk & Larbert way, wee bit far She's sorting out the pitch now.
scallopboy

Well let me know her burger 10-20 when she gets going and I'll pop in for a roll and black.
ex-tobester

if we say we know you, do we get a free caramel wafer?
glasgowken

Naw, she'll charge you double
She should get a burger boat for the canal traffic

(Sorry scallopboy, didn't mean to hijack the thread with all this burger talk)

It's okay GK, there are no OT on here so I won't be telling you to burger off.

You should add a drum kit emoticon for times like this

Anyway, back to the original post, how about photos of the tiny newsagents around the city. The sort of places that just have a hole in the wall as a counter. They've always held a certain facination for me.

EDIT: I was too late with the drum suggestion
scallopboy

I cannot for the life of me think if there are any hole in the wall shops left. Get photographing, I'm intrigued.

Only one I can think of is in the St Enoch's Centre although some railway stations have them.

Aye the coffee bars made out of old police phone boxes in Glasgow thread would be pretty short though
Alex Glass

They have just opened a Coffee Bar in Hyndland Station. Converted the space under the stairs where they previously kept the salt.
ex-tobester

one opening on crow road, broomhill, where the old dry cleaners was at the corner of marlborough drive

I'm thinking of doing a project on old-style cafes in Glasgow and the surrounding area.

I don't mean newly-opened or retro style ones, but those that have been there for generations and still retain their old decor. The Val d' Oro at Glasgow Cross and Boni's in Clarkston spring to mind, but if anyone can think of any others that I could go and take some pics of it would be most appreciated.

There one up Maryhill Road, Jaconellis.

Took some pics recently at the University Cafe, but I haven't been into the Queens yet

Smashing place and thankfully my local
Len Scaps

I think I could probably expand the theme to any old-fashioned businesses in general. I'd imagine there are still a few old barbershops and ironmongers around, probably should document them before they disappear for good.

I think the Lyceum cafe in Govan is still there

Lol...I know. I come from that part of the world and I can tell you neither the cafe  nor the owners have changed one little bit since I was in short trousers
