Kilmarnock

Surprised a little by lack of Kilmarnock threads... so here is a general 'fits all' one

Demolition of Stoddards

This is a curious place.... South Hook Potteries. Information on it seems scarce apart from indications of brick firing, closing in 1971. There is also a plaque on the perimeter indicating it served time as a telephone exchange or some other BT related building.

Scary, saw a 'south hook' brick round the back

Wish I had the weather you did Stuball. Still, there are a few gems tucked away there.

Was in Kilmarnock today and stopped off in Hill Street as I was on my way home and took a few pictures, mainly of Johnnie Walker's, and a few of the former Nazareth House, I believe, now flats, and St Joseph's RC Church, and views over Kilmarnock from there.

Others are available here.  flickr

Well done Marcia

The Johnny Walker factory needs documented before it closes. Any chance they would let you in to take photos before everything stops so that like the Japanese we can see what happens inside.

Can but ask.    It's a huge place.  UG jaunt?
Alex Glass

If access could be arranged I am sure there are some one here who would jump at the chance of a wee jaunt to Kilmarnock.

Ok!  I used to work for the cooncil in Killie, so I'll see if I can find out who would be best person to ask for access.
