Kincardine and the Kincardine Bridge

Anyone into engineering should like this.I have to cross it twice a day to go to Longannet

Is it still capable of opening? I did'nt even know it did open

Think the last time it was tried was around 5 or 6 years ago for a safety inspection Stu..
Think it failed as i have no knowledge of it opening since or for that matter before that....
Pretty sure the joint has been tarred over now too though dont quote me on that one.

The joints have not been tarred over but there is a build up of crap on the rubber. What prevents it opening now is the crash barriers they've installed along the side of the road which are fixed and bolted together right over the joins. The control room is sealed and alarmed as is the access to the deck below the road, with a nice spangly dome camera and alarm box.
