Bummer.... It looks about right for a picnic rather than a BBQ...
35 firefighters can do a lot of damage in a short time ... I know i am related to one.
I never got the chance to have a wee look around as an outpatient...
Fjord

Falseface was an inpatient there for years until he made his escape bid!

I seen that picture before browsing someones profile....
It scared the s*** out of me for weeks.... Thanks for stirring up the memories...

Think i might have even left a comment to that effect on the original post somewhere.

Me and Scary went there the other day to see how it looks now...but thought it far to dangerous to go in the building

looks a bit safer since my visit now those dodgy floors have been well and truly burned out. What a mess

I had been planning to visit Lennox Castle for ages, but always ended up too busy, I only read last weekend about the fire. Hopefully will still make it up there for some pictures, even if you can't get inside anymore.
Scary

You had better be quick then....

iiisecondcreep and I finally made it here on saturday after a spectacular fail last week.

Is there an easier way than walking down from the top of the hill?

Here's the main entrance:

Holy crap! When did that happen? Knew it would go eventually

My turn!
I think it was worth walking for hours and hours in the rain (TWICE) to see it.

Great but sad pics folks.

Looks like a synchronised collapse by the demolition squad. Was there any sign of demo activity like heavy plant equipment nearby?

Although the high winds recently could have brought it down as there wasn't much holding up the partially collapsed lintels and the alarming outward bulge on the outer walls once the floor beams perished in the blaze.
Fast Eddie

nothing at all. Very quiet, only the pile of dumped rubbish round the far side to spoil the view.
Scary

Smashing pics folks

I would be very surprised if that was done by a demo contractor, if it was then that`s a shocking state to leave it in as it`s just as unsafe,  if not more so than it was

I like the sound of `synchronised demolition ` though Fjord
