New South Glasgow Hospital

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

I see it every school day, when I'm looking out through the windows facing away from the centre area and when I'm going to and from my school.  I wonder what it will look like when completed.

The western & royal hospital for sick children are moving round about the same time.
Stuball

The royal hospital for sick children (neo natal)  is already there within a new extension to the maternity building
nightfly

Yeah that was the queen mother maternity hospital that moved there in 2010. The RHSC moves summer 2015.
mani

wonder why it was built next to the sewage works and the cleansing depot .

And in the grounds of an existing hospital ?.........
Stuball

The place is a bastard to get to if you don't drive and a nightmare to get parked if you do
nightfly

Their also building a rooftop play park on the children's hospital. It will be smelling especially in the summer with that next door lol.

All the main Glasgow hospitals will be shutting within the next 7 years and moving to this site.   So, if you live say in the north and east of the city, too bad, according to NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

Perhaps this is their way of "thinning the herd".
ECKYTHUMP

I agree .There should have been more transport infrastructure first then build the hospital around it.Wheres the nearest train station.Fastlink is obviously defunct now.I agree the whole north of city will be left out.
nightfly

Can't see the royal closing.

Hi fastnet, did anybody bother you while taking photos?
I am always wary in there, time for a visit to get the latest progress
fastnet

Nobody norrie...... But I didn't get out of the car to take any off them.
Fat Cat

They've lopped three stories off of it because of the cost.   Bodes well.
norrie

Hi fastnet, I drove past it on New Years day, heading for the tunnel, noticed that a large part of the older buildings beside the road had been demolished since my last visit, glad I took the shots
fastnet

It's getting there.

Hi Nightfly, I was there a few weeks ago  and the barriers that surround the hospital were still in place, I will need to go back
Well done getting the internal shots
Fat Cat

Horrendous.  The new admin block is already too small even before all workers have moved in.

I though some sections did look far to small. Like the A&E waiting areas for both the adult & childrens hospital.

norrie
