Does anyone know what it was used for, Looks like chickens or hens were kept there.

It was one of the old Marshals Chunky Chick farms ... still loads around the Lothians but they closed hunners when Grampian foods bought them over. These building have been falling into ruin slowly as the upkeep was stood down. Many sheds were just abandoned on farms that are still working and are now starting to collapse as can be seen from the M8 at Newbridge/Broxburn.
