I promise I will do my best to contribute interesting things as much as possible and that I will try and refrain from drunk posts that only made sense in my head at that point.

I have mastered the art of making an arse of myself whilst in a sober state, so do not worry.

Beware the art of posting when totally out your face. Take it from somebody who knows....

I tend to buy things on t'internet rather than posting stuff when I get to this stage actually, but hey, you might do that do, or where else does your flickr name come from?

Hi Guys

Just started posting some stuff, I am going to port some of my stuff from an other website to here as I can live happy in the knowledge that the deletion fairy wont get his hands on it, did I say this?  Fantastic site!  Nice one Guys.

Dougie.

The "deletion fairy?" The mind boggles...

Hello! Have you just moved here?
Xeno

Hi,

No havent moved here, was born here in Duke St Hospital. I had been looking for something else on the net when i had come across a site ( Urban adventures)that talked about exploring under cities. The guy that ran the site had been over here and had been exploring the old tunnels. So I thought i would see if there was any other sites that talked/ visited abandoned places.

tombro

Hi !

This is new member Tombro from Lake Macquarie, NSW, Australia.

Proud to say, though, that I spent the late 1950's living in Airgold Drive in Drumchapel and went to St Sixtus School !

G'day All !

Fjord

Howdy tombro welcome to UG any old photo's of the Drum back in the day
zolita1908

tombro
tombro

Thanks to Fjord and Zolita for your welcome !

To Fjord, I do have lots of photos taken over the five years I lived in 'the Drum' but they are mainly 'family and friend' snaps taken in the backyard of our tenement in Airgold Drive.

My biggest regret in my renewed contact with 'the Drum', after nearly fifty years absence, is he demise of the 'oorDrum' site where I actually posted Class Photographs of both my brother and myself, taken in either 1959 or 1960 at St Sixtus' School on Kinfauns Drive.

That posting was a follow up to the fact that I had found Class Pictures of Camus Place Primary School posted by an Isobel Coral who used to live in the apartment next door in Airgold Drive.

To Zolita, I loved your welcome Smiley.

It's obvious that both of you have interests in Glasgow and Drumchapel, so I look forward to hearing from both of you in the future !

Regards,
Tombro

Scary

I always forget to look here     Hello to all I missed
Edward Fox

Thank you kindly for the welcome.

Ah, such evocative names you good people have.

Zolita - child of the future, as our mysterious Oriental cousins say.

And Hollowhorn - evocative of the horn of plenty, so crammed to the brim with the fruits of promise in our youth, to be plucked out and consumed as experience until in our dotage only the crumbs remain in a hollow vessel.

Would I be correct, sir, in assuming that you are a man of character and experience?

And felicitations to you, too, James73, and in advance to the other 72 James's. I take it that it remains a popular name even subsequent to The Union of the Crowns.

Scary sounds a trifle alarming, though. Unless he is the eighth dwarf, of course.
Scary

You got it right the first time Edward.... I`m a trifle
wee minx

Hello Edward, welcome to UG
I'm a wee minx...but I know the importance of being earnest.
Have a great time here..looking forward to your posts

Greetings and felicitations to you Edward Fox and a most warm welcome your good self to this place of mysticism in this year of our Lord, two thousand and eight. Pray that your stay here is a long one and your cup runneth over with the delights herein contained within these towers and minarets of culture and knowledge.
Edward Fox

Such would be my ideal, my good man.

And Wee Minx, whilst you may know know the importance of being earnest, I would advise against going Wilde in the country.

It just hasn't been the same since the anti-hunting laws.
poodiecat

Mr Fox, you sound familiar. In a good way.

Welcome!
Edward Fox

It warms the cockles of my heart to  hear that people still watch 'Force 10 From Navarone' and 'The Day of the Jackal ', even in these days of CGI.

God bless you, Poodiecat!

What ho, old chap! We must get together some time for a rousing rendition of the old school song. Especially now that the chorus gets more appropriate with every passing day.

Quote:
Forty years on, growing older and older,
Shorter in wind, as in memory long,
Feeble of foot, and rheumatic of shoulder,
What will it help you that once you were strong?

So, Mr Fox, do tell us how you stumbled across this forum, please.
Edward Fox

Well, Poodiecat, you probably remember my film September, the filming of which granted me the opportunity to see the beautiful, rural parts of your lovely country.

As you probably know also, when one gets to my age the parts come fewer and further between, alas, so one thought one would catch up on the parts that fit neither of those categories.

So, one got one's butler to Google 'Urban' and 'Glasgow', and Bob was one's uncle, if you'll forgive the Southern vernacular.
