Calamity, in there last week it's a blooming mess.   (noticed the new wee tree broken)

whats happening at the graveyard.

Site clearance works including tree management;

∑         Hard landscaping ~ improvements to the footpath surfacing, stone edging, incorporation of public art in the surface;

∑         Soft landscaping ~ bulb planting;

∑         Wall improvements ~ adding a cope to the wall on the northern edge to protect from the water dropping from the building next door ~ adding a new length of wall on the eastern edge between the site and the new housing ~ pointing and cleaning of the wall on the western boundary. Where possible the fallen headstones will be refixed to the walls;

∑         Lighting ~ floodlighting the entrance on the western wall;

∑         Street furniture ~ replacement of bollards at Abercromby Street; and

∑         Replacement gates ~ done to a contemporary design.

The works are programmed to be completed within 8 weeks. The site is in the hands of the contractor for that period so as itís viewed as a construction site I donít imagine youíll be able to get any access during this period. If youíve any problems with the plan give me a call and Iíll arrange to have a hard copy sent.

There used to be an excellent tree swing in there... There was a 2 level wall only the brave (Stupid) would go high...
Council men came and chopped it down something about some city forefathers grave or sommit ... wish i had paid better attention at the time

If I can manage I ll try to get up today as my man phoned on his way to work to tell me that the big diggers are inside the graveyard today, so IM wondering if some graves are being moved or what their actually up to.. [/i]

I remember being told that Rab Ha was eventually interred in this graveyard.

Having tried googling this subject without success I am now forced to ask the question Truth or Pish?

Thanks

Shuggy
