Some searches around the forum might yield you some stuff but failing that, I recommend the Virtual Mitchell here http://www.mitchelllibrary.org/virtualmitchell/

Doigs the newagents, Birrells, Galls, City Bakeries, John Collier, Ethels, Sutherlands toy shop, Mackays, Doris Young Hat shop, Munros chemist, McCutcheon's the fruit shop where they had a cat who sat on the shelf and hissed at the customers, Coias cafe when it was a proper cafe at the top of Millerston Street, Milanda bakery, Blacks dairy.   Just off the top of my head.   More to follow (perhaps)  I think Ethels was the place we got our school uniforms.
