Photography ban on Glasgow's Subway

please like and SHARE this page and add your support and comments to help stop SPT introducing fines of up to 1000 for anyone taking pics or video on the subway in Glasgow
www.facebook.com/StopTheGlasgowSubwayPhotoBan

details:
Glasgow's publicly funded body the SPT are seeking through new bylaws to be introduced on 15th June 2012 to impose a ban on photography, video and audio on the Glasgow subway.
This ban affects everyone, from the casual phone snapper taking a shot of their pal on a night out, to a parent photographing their child out and about on the tube, through to tourists sightseeing and recording their adventures on the clockwork orange (as the subway is affectionately known locally).
Even those recording an offensive incident as has been witnessed recently and such video then used to great effect to bring racist behaviour to book will now come under this draconian and unnecessary bylaw.
This action by SPT is uncalled for, unnecessary and shows them to be entirely out of step with modern society and the way in which cameras and camera phones and social media in conjunction with such apps and video sharing such as youtube allows all people to share and celebrate their lives with impunity and restriction. The fact SPT is a publicly funded transport body who serve the people further underlines how this draconian proposed bylaw is a crass action.
It is our subway, SPT please respect your passengers and draw back from this outdated draconian and unnecessary action. Even the London tube has no photography ban.

I haven't had the misfortune to be introduced to these yet!

I'd heard through my camera club that this ban on photography had not come into effect due to the public reaction from it however when I was down there today I got told to stop taking photographs. The guy unfortunately didn't have a clue what he was talking about and when I asked if it was a public place he said yes, which I'm sure its probably not since it'll be owned by SPT. He put it down to the "current climate" and cause his boss said so. Fortunately I had taken all the photos I had wanted to by that point.

I then tweeted @GlasgowSubway and they said "flash photography is restricted for safety reasons" but doesnt say anything about photography without a flash.

Sorry was just venting a bit. There is no punchline unfortunately :( as with most of my stories.

I was having a sly dig at the Subway photo policy more than anything mate, rant well deserved.

Seems again people hear talk of a "Possible" photography ban and some little hitler adopts it as policy under his own steam. Education is key but short of the much needed frontal lobotomy I am unsure how to solve this issue.
If the SPT had spent as much time and effort telling their staff the game was a bogey as they did trying to adopt a stupid bit of legislation aimed at stopping photography then perhaps these issues would have never arisen.

I've emailed SPT to specifically ask whether non flash photography is allowed so will wait on their response and post when I've heard.
