Pub?

I need a wee hand. I'm looking for a quiet wee country pub within reasonable distance of Glasgow (say 15 miles max) with comfy sofas, pool table and jukebox. A real fire would be a bonus too if possible.
Anyone any ideas?

Driven past it many times but never been in Stu, does it have all the "required elements"?

Just googled for reviews, seems to have gone downhill.

The Carbeth does have real fires, comfyish seats and hale and hearty soup and good, sometimes served free on a Thursday night when the musicians gather.  It has an earthy feel to it, the owner is welcoming and friendly but space can be a premium.  It does not have a pool table (I've often found that some pubs that contain said item, tend to have a little issue from the cue balls and cues being used elsehwere)....

Some of the other places mentioned are indeed worth a visit but I like the atmosphere of the Carbeth and I think it's a lot better than it used to be.

Maybe I'm easily pleased....

lol

Many years ago, I had reason to be invited to a pub in the Paisley(ish) area and it was an enjoyable evening all round.  In the corner was a pool table and it was occupied all night, with some pool sharks offering '1 a ball' never quite grasped that concept.

Anyway, as the night wore on, a lot of noise began to come from this 'pool corner' and at first we thought many were being boisterous but suddenly, the black ball, white ball, a few spots and a stripe were making there way into a sock - to be used as a cosh - seriously, never witnessed anything like this in my life.  Eventually a fight broke out and balls, cues and glass was flying everywhere.  We started to get our things together and there were two old men, like Jack and Victor from Still Game sitting with their half and half in front of them, suddenly they lifted their glasses, ducked their heads, as a cue swept round the top of them.  Best bit, without flicking an eyelid, they sat up, took up their half pints and beckoned to the barmaid to put up another wee half, 'make it a double hen, it's been wan hell o a night."  Most folks around them fell about in laughter and then the whole pub fell silent as it became a little more sinister - thankfully, we made our exit and as we were leaving Strathlyde's finest was coming in.

Weeks later, my friend, the regular announced the pool table had been removed and replaced by a DJ area and Karoke system!  Think I would have preferred the Pool Table to be left... much more entertaining!
