Sky +My old sky box gave up the ghost today so we phoned sky to see if we could get somone to fix it.
we were told it would be a £65 call out fee and another £159 for a new box if it couldn't be repaired.
as we have been with them for nearly 20 years i thought this was crap customer service and phoned and told them i was cancelling my subscription due to this.
I am now getting sky+ fitted on thursday for a one off payment of £49.
so if you have sky and are thinking of upgrading, just phone and say you are cancelling........it works wonders...

That usually works a treat every time. I phoned them up to cancel and said if you give me Sky+ I'll stay with you so the guy pretends to go and ask his boss and comes back with his best offer or £49. I say just cancel it. No problem he says.
3 days later the leaflet comes through the door. 'Come Back To Sky And Receive SKY+ Absolutely Free'
So I got Sky+ installed for nothing. Worth the wait, the burd loves it.

What's Sky+? As I don't have a tv I never know what's going on in the world. I find it makes me do more interesting stuff instead.

Sky+ is just like Sky telly but has the PVR option where you can record programs (two at once) without a video recorder.
If you're a right saddo you can even program your Sky+ box to record by sending it a text.
I'd like to say I'm above all such material things but I've got Sky+ and I'd be lost without the blighter.

Sounds too complicated for me. I think I'll stick to huddling around the wireless of an evening smoking my pipe.

Well i think i got the deal of the century.
I had to call them about a dead Sky+ box got the same old argument 65 quid and 159 for new box....
Told em i wanted to cancel...
1 main box 3 multi room talk and broadband package all on max packages. boy said if thats how ya feel we will send out your mac code... I left it at that and cancelled.
within the hour i got a toffee speaking woman telling me i cant cancel as i am in contract.
So now i am blazing and furious as i have been out of contract for 3 years she never read the year date properly so told her to call back once she was educated in the calender and hung up...
10 mins later and a helluva nice girl called wiped the broadband cost wiped the call package cost halfed my multiroom subs and gave me HD.
So we now wait on the engineer...
and for 6 months I get to save some dough.
They know difficult times lay ahead and they need your cash more than you need to give it to them.
Oh and I was also told Sky Broadband is now truly unlimited they dont care if you download 6gb or 6000gb a month ... Announcement will be made later this week making it stand apart from all the other companies.
