Taylor Street, Townhead

I wonder if anyone can tell me exactly where 52 Taylor St was?
I obviously know of the part that was up at St Mungo's Avenue etc but I think 52 may have been down where Strathclyde Uni buildings are now - maybe near where Townhead Baths were?
Any help appreciated...
Cheers Gerry.

According to the post office directory of 1911/12, 52 isn't actually listed. However, 54 lies between Cathedral Street and St James Road, and is listed immediately after Cathedral Street, so it's probable that 52 so was on the corner of Cathedral Street. You might get more clarification on some of the higher detailed maps on NLS.

The 11/12 is the last listed on the NLS site, but there are later ones kicking about on the internet if you look about - I've seen one into the late 20's.

Here's the link to the directories available on NLS. Taylor Street is listed on page 1017 of the 11/12 directory!

Taylor Street extended all the way from Rottenrow to Kennedy Street, but
the old map on this link doesn't show street numbers.

Gerry,
52 Taylor Street would seem to be the second close up from Cathedral Street/Stirling Road,on the east side of the street.

Cheers,
Chris.
