Pictures of the moon from around the UK and even the world....

I had to start this thread after seeing this on flickr....

The moon was incredible last night, anybody get pics ?
wee minx

I did , they were rubbish, so.........
How do I take pics of the moon? I have never got it right. It's in focus but just a lovely white circle , no texture of wee moon type things to be seen on it
Fjord

You need a tripod or sit the camera on something solid.

Then use Manual mode on your camera and set it to 125/sec at F8 ( ISO 100) give it a try and see how you get on.

Adjust the f stops accordingly if it still aint doing the business

In addition to what the scandanavian said, a handy little tip is to use the timer for taking the picture, this avoiding any camera shake caused by pressing the shutter release

The moon is very bright in the sky (2nd brightest object in the sky after the sun), for a full moon try around 1/500 at f8 & iso 100 as a starting point - should be able to shoot it hand held with no problems

This was taken the other night 1/400s f6.3 iso 100

How did you capture the last one Xeno?

Had got a loan of a 2X convertor and used a 75 - 300 mm with it. Zoomed right in. Cropped and turned it into a neg with Infraview. The 2X was fairly crap as it was a Jessops type. I'm waiting for an adpter to fit my camera to my telescope so i should get closer/ better photo
