Some out of date info there re Lincoln Ave and Kestrel Rd all but 2 of those blocks have been reprieved and are in the process of being refurbed, with external cladding, removal of verandas rewired, replumbed, kitchens, windows etc.
The blocks that are still going are the 2 nearest Archerhill Rd, they are still occupied at the moment, so will be some time before they come down.
John58

As already stated that website is out of date, I also used to use it but Ithinkit hasn't been updated for about 4 years.
John58

Also, does anyone know whats happening to the 2 non-refurbished kennished multis

Because Glasgow will bid to host some kind of youth "olympics" or something, the idea now is to demolish all of Sighthill.

Demolish a whole entire area every 50 years!
Stuball

Fastnet, are the 3 blocks on Broomloan road (Iona court) coming down? Little to no lights on these days
fastnet

Yes they are stu.

There was talk of keeping them for the medical staff for the southern but it has now been decided to pull them down.

Word on the street is they will be starting in january.
Stuball

They'll be coming down by the high reach? Too close to the underground for blow down
fastnet

Yup.
norrie

Hi Fastnet, I was in Norfolk Court  today word is they have 18 months, time will tell
Work is progressing on the site of Stirlingfauld Place so the time scale may well be right

Iona Court Demolition

At the moment, the last occupants of the flats have just moved out, and the workies are now in to remove the CCTV cameras. I am in the exclusion zone and the rumours are that the Northernmost block will be taken down by mechanical means and the other two by explosives. Let me stress this is rumour. As I will be kicked out in the event of a blowdown, I will post any info as and when I get it.

I was there today and they were replacing cameras.

Any dates for the second slab at red road yet?

One of the drumchapel high blocks is coming down but I think that's a bit further down the line
smb95

Do they still exist?

Does anyone know if any of the high flats at Tarfside Oval still exist?
fastnet

Yes they do.

Two are getting refurbished and two are getting demolished.
James

Another one of the Sighthill blocks is empty. The area around it is now
fenced off and the building is being stripped. The one on the opposite
side of Pinkston Drive also looks empty and looks like it will be next.

Hi James73, well that didn't take long
Stuball

The middle of the 3 blocks on Broomloan Road (Iona or Jura court is it?) has started to have windows removed
KirstyMaclaren

Does anyone know how the block at finnieston (st Vincent terr?) is coming down? It has had its middle windows stripped.
DavidMcD316

Red Road second slab has been just about to come down for months.
9 months now since the 1st one came down, still the clear up continues.

Shaftsbury Street, Safedem have been chiselling away at that for a few weeks now think its another one that will be nibbled down though due to location and proximity to the motorway.

Earlier at school today my Spanish teacher told me that the first one of the Pinkston flats cannot be blown-down because of the primary school next to it.  The building will instead be literately torn apart.

Does that mean we'll have readings of Shakespeare and the like from the guys at SafeDem?
maximusmop

i had been wondering what would happen at pinkston as the long reach crane is there but not fully set up yet
smb95

According to my Spanish teacher the block he lived in (the first to be demolished) was the last one of the Pinkston blocks to open.

Iona Court James, I don`t think the blocks have names, I know them as 31, 45 and 59.

Earlier at school today I saw that the yellow demolition company banner had fallen off from two or three places.
Vinny the Mackem

Walked past the flats at Anderston this morning.  The one on the corner of Elderslie Street and Argyle Street is no more!

I didn't get a photo, but the high rise only had the top three floors left to clear.  I'll try to get a photo of that on the way home (when, presumably, there might be another floor cleared!)
KirstyMaclaren

Goodness!
smb95

Two days ago my Spanish teacher said that the first Pinkston block would start to come down tomorrow by machinery.  It would be a great opportunity for someone to take photos of the machinery at action.

When are the buildings on this list going to be demolished?
20, 39 and 40 Rosemount Street
The remaining Laurieston block
The other four Pinkston blocks
Iona Court
The tall block in Anderston
The Windows 95 building (123 Petershill Drive)
Half of Tarfside Oval
Sandiefield Road
The Gallowgate Twins
Any of the Kennishead Flats (if scheduled)
Prospecthill Circus (if any are scheduled)

Want to save the Red Road Flats (and any others, if possible)?
cybers

Your too late most of them work has already begun and to be honest the only ones marked for keeping are the ones of special interest to the police for operational requirements. If plod are not using it on match days and evidence gathering then the rest of the real estate up there is generally let to mobile carrier masts.
Vinny the Mackem

Not the best photo but the Anderston high rise is looking fully stripped out.

16 and 18 pinkston drive munchdown has started in the lastfew days!
smb95

Tomorrow I will be going to as many of the G21 postcode area (generally Springburn) flats as possible.  It will include the Red Road Flats (highest chance of going there first for an obvious reason), the Sighthill high-rise flats, Rosemount Street, the site of the former Germiston Flats (well... probably not since those flats don't exist anymore), the Carron estate, Balgrayhill Road, Charles street and the two that my dad's auntie lives in.  Please note that the names of the places mentioned are not in order of when I will go to them.  I will be using my new camera that I got on my birthday six days ago.

Yes, I looked at it doing its thing for a wee while.  Sort of oddly fascinating, really.   Giant yellow Tonka toy going chomp chomp chomp, om nom nom.  Somehow like watching a giraffe reach up for dinner.

If I ever find a camera, might attempt photo, not that it would be any good.
smb95

If you look carefully then you can see the demolition underway.  Was due to go there to take photos today but couldn't due to heavy rain.  Hopefully I will go to Sighthill on Sunday.

Was having a wander between Govan and my office today and got this one of the three flats at Kintra Street, Ibrox.

The 3 at Iona Court will be nibbled down due to the proximity of the Subway.

I doubt it very much due to the money spent on it.

He had said that one day, when he left home to go somewhere it was normal.  But when he came back home later that day the windows had been boarded up.  Though even I have some doubt over that, maybe I'll have to go there sometime.
fastnet

Was this after the fire whilst it was being done up or recently ?
smb95

fastnet wrote:

When he had told me about the demolition?  Earlier today at school, mentioning that the other three would stay.  Though with my doubts, when he had mentioned the demolition and name, before looking it up on my phone, I'd thought he was talking about a taller, not-been-refurbished-in-recent-times block, with Tarfside Oval even coming to mind a little.
fastnet

Sorry........When was the windows boarded up ?... Recently ?

Don't know.  Might be recent.  Glasgow has too many high-rises with too many fates for the actual fate to be known.

are the 2 at Roystonhill getting blown up or nibbled down?

the yellow one looks empty, yet still has by far the most telecommunications on the roof.

20 rosemount is already in the hands of safedem so midnight bang for them i think due to the proximety of m8

Aye or is that Eye

I do, I am taking photos for my former Neighourhood Manager of all the new work going on in Gorbals and Oatlands and have access  to an empty flat
I will drop her a line to see if its going to be used by high heid yins, I can mention that there  may be more than me and see what she says

There are two side windows that look on to the Sandiefield flats and I think the living room and kitchen may well afford a view

I am intending being there but if the Speedway is on, Im goosed

You do get a rather nice view from the roof.........

There appears to be a big hole on one of the exterior walls of the tall block on Shaftsbury Street that isn't a window slot.
