Upper Lanrick, Kilmadock

The following set is one of my ancestral homes circa 1770 (or the location of it).  There's a good few structures here that appear to be of different age ranges so I don't know which (if any) of these were actually around at the time.  All features are visible on the large scale OS maps at the NLS site. the layout and number of structures doesnt appear to have changed any since at least 1866.  I hope I'll find the time to get to the Stirling Archives to get a bit more reearch on the site.

The first set of photos are the outer structures, followed by the inner courtyard buildings then a few outside of the main complex and a couple of outbuildings.  Didn't even attempt to emulate some of Stuball's recent interior shots as these buildings looked really dodgy like a badly timed fart would be enough to bring them down

Dude! Please try to split your posts up to 4 or 5 images a post... it makes things a bit easier to load.

It's not a case of steam powered PC's but taking into account not everyone has the option or the luxury of fast broadband infact I am  pretty sure there are probably members who are still on a dial up connection and its these people who are taken into consideration.

Nice set.
Must be sad to see the place in desolation.

Cheers Doog Doog.  Never knew about the link until recently but given that most of my other links are for long gone streets of Cowcaddens (Milton), Springburn or Maryhill - the Upper Lanrick farm steading is in positively mint condition

Great photos! I LOVE this place! Have quite a few photos but they'd just be duplicates of yours. I was lucky enough to explore the castle a few years before it was unlawfully demolished. My castle photos are pre-digital so will scan them & upload them (eventually!)
