Not that the photo itself it great but yesterday when passing this part of the Gallowgate I looked back at the Whitevale Swimming Baths.. and thought to myself that not until all those old streets of tenements were pulled down was this view of the baths able to have ever be seen.. so before they go builiding again on this plot, I thought Id shove it on...

what am I like norrie, here it is, aye they tore those flats donw smart, the same after the fire at Linns pub, they were building on that plot the next week, makes you wonder eh...    this just an impossible shot to get a wee while ago...
John

Calamity, the demolition of the houses at Slatefield Street from Wyper Place at the Bellgrove Hotel to Whitevale St took around 6 years to complete.
The plot at Lynn`s pub to my knowledge hasn`t been developed yet unless it has been done in the last few months.
norrie

Hi calamity I will need to get over there before they start building
Bye for now, norrie

Hi Calamity, from where you are standing in your pic the Lynn bar / Chip Shop and Newsagents were at the other side of the top of David Street....Here`s a google image before the shops got torched...

The Whitevale Baths are riddled with Asbestos so the chances of access are zero.

That first shop there was Suzi Wong's Take away in the 70's and early 80's
Wee restaraunt with a take away counter...
Wee used to get food from it occasionally as it was a treat then instead of the norm.

The wee shop at the end was a hardware shop for years

Thanks John for info.. at the time of the fire, there was a lot of talk about how fast these flats went up. but now I see your right, about where they are.. and its all just spare ground there now... strange how once a place has gone it can get you mixed up about places and where they stood..

Couldnt have seen this view years ago as the church belonging to the churchhouse would have obsured this view, in Crownpoint Road Bridgeton.

Fat Cat

Passed here the other day.  Where Lyn's pub was they are now building

A Blue Lagoon chippy

Fits in well with the theme of Glasgow's Commonwealth Games Legacy......
