Could be Peter but not sure. Canal did not close till 1962 so I'm guessing that any traffic (including fishing boats) could have used it until then. I've asked around in Bowling but no-one including the staff working there seem to know.

Just noticed in the TV schedule for tonight on Channel 4 at 8 pm, Forth and Clyde and Union Canals Series 2 Episode 4
