Few additions to make from 2012;

Barrack Street looking E - site of Warehouse, Leather Works and Engineering Stores.

Corner of Armour Street and Barrack Street - site of a Pub in 1894 and latterly a Timber Yard

Sydney Street looking N, cut in two by Auction Car Mart. Site of Sydney Street Soapworks to the top end and Oil and Paint Works to east side.

Corner of Armour Street and Melbourne Street looking N - site of old Confectionary Works swallowed up by the Meat Market in the 19th century. The old Duke Street Hospital is the red sandstone building on the back right of the photo.

If I can veer off topic for a minute.what was the purpose of the white bricks in Hawicks photos? These pictures were taken in a back court just off the candleriggs in the Merchant city. They must have been expensive so must have had a purpose.

I was told the white bricks / tiles are there to reflect light into places that the sun doesn`t get to. Usually found in the centre of Victorian buildings in the city centre and called "Light Wells".
